LENT: The Good Life (Exploring the Sermon on the Mount)
Lent is an important time of year as we prepare for Easter. To make this series as relevant and life changing as possible, think about the issues you struggle with and what you would like to change. Commit to using these sermons to make a tangible difference in your daily life, so that these issues can be worked on.
The following questions might help you articulate where you’re finding problems:
1. I have been struggling with…
– for a long time
– for a little while
– only recently
2. If I could ask God one question, this is it…
3. One change I would like to make in my life is…
4. I think these things could help me make those changes…
The Sermon on the Mount is both challenging and inspiring. As John Stott remarks, ‘I have to confess that I have myself fallen under its spell, or rather, under the spell of Him who preached it. I have found my mind wrestling with its problems and my heart set on fire by the nobility of its ideal.’
May it be so for each us as we explore this series. God bless.
